Kowoon, Piano Instructor at French & Music House comes from South Korea. She is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at UMKC Conservatory, studying with Dr. Robert Weirich. She graduated Chungnam Arts High School in South Korea with JinYi Yang and received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Sookmyung Women’s University, South Korea with Dr. Hyesoo Jeon. She studied and graduated from Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with Master of Music and Performance Diploma in Piano Performance with Dr. Karen Shaw.
She started to teach playing piano in 2008. She served as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University, where she taught in group piano classes and private lessons from undergraduate to graduate, from music majors to non-music majors, and from beginners to advanced students. She is currently working as a Keyboard Skills Division Graduate Teaching Assistant at UMKC.
Kowoon is enthusiastic for performing, so she plays performances with different repertoires such as solo, chamber, collaborative, and playing with orchestra every year. Her recent performance was in the end of the July 2015 in Korea with Percussion Ensemble. Besides, she participated in several masterclasses with Alain Jacquon, Billy Eidi, Francois Thinat, Hey Young Park, Klaus Schilde, Peter Barcaba, and Sontraud Speidel.
